Painting of Jesus and Inmates

II Cor. 5:17 If any man be in Christ he is a new creation. Old things have passed away  behold, all things have become new.

This art piece was inspired by the Holy Spirit who gives the experience of spiritual rebirth in Jesus Christ. Come to me all you are weary and burdened could be another verse applied to the picture, as Jesus offers His grace, rest, peace, and freedom along with all of His other attributes.

I was saved by grace through faith years ago, but I have had some trouble letting Him be Lord of my life. My fall into sin was really a self-centered trap, and no excuses can ever justify my behaviors. Eventually I was arrested after losing all things that I had valued. All that was left for me was Jesus. His plan for me, aside from the chastening, was to display His goodness, kindness, and faithfulness to me.

This sketch shows a number of besetting sins grabbing at a man and a woman in jail blues. Jesus beckons them out and cleanses them from sin by His flowing blood and by water symbolic of the regenerating baptism, one of our acts of obedience. I was baptized in jail by our Chaplain and though I still stumble many times in my life; I still experience my rebirth everyday in serving Jesus.I pray that you will too.
